2. Mata Hari
Mata Hari or Margaretha Geertruida “Grietje” Zelle was a dancer who was accused of espionage by posing as a double agent for Germany. Many experts today consider that she was convicted based on unproven hypotheses and evidences that wouldn’t hold up in modern trial. She was executed on 1917 by firing squad and legend holds that Mata Hari gave farewell kisses to her executioners, who were blindfolded to prevent from being succumbed to her charm. Her remain wasn’t buried and used as anatomy learning subject by medical students, the following day. Her head was embalmed in the Criminal Museum of France, but stolen in 1958, possibly by a fan.
