John Anglin, Clarence Anglin and Frank Morris successfully escaped from Alcatraz. They chiseled moisture-damaged wall using an improvised electric drill made from a stolen vacuum cleaner motor and metal spoon. Working only during the music hour, they could disguise the noise and used false wall to fool the guards. After the hole is large enough for them to enter, they sailed to the mainland using an inflatable raft made from a few raincoats. The raft was found on the Angel Island and a car was reportedly stolen that night. To this day, their fates remain unclear.
