10 Famous Writers Who Went To Jail

8. Thomas Malory

Sir Thomas Malory was an English writer known for Le Morte d’Arthur (The Death of Arthur), a compilation of tales about the legendary King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin. There are four possible claimants of Thomas Malory’s identity, with Thomas Malory of Newbold Revel as the most likely.
Thomas Malory’s life was hardly in keeping with the exceptional chivalric standard in his works. In 1450 alone, he was accused of robbing three different persons and raping a woman. In and out of prisons for years, he had enough time to write the Le Morte d’Arthur. When Edward IV ascended to throne in 1461, Thomas Malory was pardoned and seemed to have a good life afterwards, being interred in Christ Church Greyfriars with adequate splendor.
