32. Archaeological Areas of Pompei
Pompeii, once a prosperous commercial port, is situated in south-west of Italy. This city saw immense growth in business under the Romans in the year 81 BC. This city is popular for its beautiful buildings which include Roman Basilica built in 130-120 BC, which is now under ash and mud. Further archaeology research in Pompeii is now undertaken by Anglo-American-Project.
31. Archaeological Area of Agrigento
Agrigento, a 6th century BC city was developed as Greek colony. The remains of majestic Doric temple tell the story of its supremacy as a beautiful town. Major part of the temple is still intact. The Roman and Hellenistic town have also come into light with the excavation done by archaeology department.
