10. San Gimignano


The first walls of San Gimignano were built in 998 BC centering a famous parish of those times. Within no time, the city grew wider in popularity as a central business hub on the Francigena Way. As the city grew in its prosperity, 72 towers were ordered to be raised in the area one of which called Rognosa outdid all the rest by virtue of its magnificence and unimaginable height.
