6. KLM 747-Pan Am 747
This aircraft accident involved two aircrafts; one was the KLM 747 while the other was Pan Am 747. Both the aircrafts were scheduled to land at the Las Palmas airport. However, as there was a bomb explosion at the airport, both the airplanes were diverted towards Tenerife Canary Islands. There were communication difficulties and the visibility was limited between the KLM aircraft and the air traffic control. The KLM 747 started to take off while the Pan Am was still on the runway. All passengers and crew members of the KLM were killed. 321 of the 380 passengers and 9 of the 16 crew members of the Pan Am flight were killed, making it a deadly accident.
