Central Amazon Conservation Complex
Spread in about 4.9 million sq. ha, Central Amazon Conservation Complex is popular for its biodiversity. Jaú National Park is known for blackwater (igapó) while Mamiraua Reserve is famous for whitewater (várzea). Rare species such as black caiman, Amazonian manatee, and one of the threatened species known as arapaima fish can be found here. Electric fish is also found here in abundance.
