5. Nowruz Oil Field
During 1983, Iran and Iraq engaged into a war. As a result, the Nowruz Oil Field was caught in the middle of the conflict. There were many accidents that happened during the year but the worst was when an oil tanker hit an oil platform. The result was spillage of 1,500 barrels per day. While local officials were planning to stop the leakage, they cannot do anything because of Iraqi planes constantly attacking the area and adjacent places. The attempt of capping the well claimed many people’s lives because of the danger that comes with sealing the pipe.
