3. The Indian Ocean Tsunami
More recently, the tsunami that occurred in the Indian Ocean in 2004 was a result of a powerful earthquake equaling the energy of 23,000 Hiroshima like atom bombs. The giant waves traversed the length of the Indian Ocean and killed around 300,000 people in the lands bordering the Ocean.
