4. North Australian Floods


North Australian floods are given the seventh number in top ten disasters of 2011. These floods were due to high intensity rainfall on 12 January 2011, resulting in major flooding across the central and western parts of Victoria. A total number of 11900 houses were flooded and almost 35 people lost their lives. The event was very severe that the damages speculated by the economists was about $30 billion.
