This was a bizarre lawsuit against McDonald’s where the plaintiff, a 79 year old lady filed a complaint that the coffee that the restaurant chain served was too hot to be considered safe. Actually she had bought a cup of coffee and tried to add sugar and cream. When she pulled the lid of the cup, the coffee split in her lap. Surprisingly, the court decided that it was indeed the fault of McDonald’s and that they must compensate for the damages.
