7. Reptile Attorney
This was a real bizarre case as a California attorney filed a lawsuit against GTE. According to the attorney, the GTE Yellow Pages directory listed the attorney’s name under the category “Reptiles”, which subjected him to being the target of jokes, jest, rude telephone calls and embarrassment. The mistake had occurred because the company had allotted the attorney a number which was previously given to a business by the name “Reptile Show”, which had then gone defunct. However, the GTE was at mistake because it had not updated its records causing the attorney much ridicule.
