5. Chicago-style Pizza
Although pizza didn’t originate in the USA, they’ve claimed it as their own. Pizza in the USA is very different to its Italian cousin, especially in the Windy City. Chicago wanted to turn a snack into a meal so it invented the deep dish pizza. A rich, buttery base filled with tomatoes, Italian spices, cheeses and meats. It’s made backwards to a normal pizza with the cheese on the bottom and sauce on top.
