How An Ugly Garage Door Affects The Appeal Of Your Home

2 Mins read

As a homeowner your home is in a way a reflection of you. You do your best to give your home the look and character that most appeals to you to create a space where you can feel truly at home. You are always aware of the upkeep it takes to give your home the desired look and curb appeal. You are probably aware of every minor and major repair your home needs and try to get them taken care of as quickly as possible before they get worse.

There are many things that can affect the overall appearance of your home as well as the property value. You may not realize that there is one very overlooked part of your home that can greatly impact the curb appeal and value of your home. Depending on the design and layout of your home, the front of the garage can take up almost half of the street view of your home. Very few homes actually have a garage that is set back further on the property than the rest of the house. Some homes have a protruding garage that is closer to the street than the front porch is, while others have a garage that is parallel to the rest of the house. In either case the garage is a prominent feature of the home and one of the first things people see when driving by or stopping over for a visit.

You may have installed new windows, siding, perhaps a new front door, maybe had some painting done, even landscaping; meanwhile your garage door is an eyesore compared to all the upgrades the rest of the house has received.

How An Ugly Garage Door Affects The Appeal Of Your Home

If you are like most homeowners you most likely still have the original garage door that came with the house and haven’t thought much about it. You may not realize how much the look of that garage door can impact the general curb appeal. An old garage door is more likely to have some paint chipping away, some dents and scratches received throughout the years, or be altogether outdated. You wouldn’t want to wear a brand new outfit with an old raggedy pair of shoes; just like you won’t want your beautiful home to have an ugly garage door.

A simple way to remedy this problem is by having a new garage door installed. If you choose to get a new garage door you will be able to choose from different styles and choose the one that best compliments your home and landscaping design. When you replace your garage door it will make the whole house look more put together and newer as well.

To think that just one simple upgrade can improve up to half of the front view of your home, and yet you have overlooked it for so long.

When you replace your old ugly garage door with a newer more appealing one, you will also have the opportunity to have a new automatic garage door opener installed which will improve the functionality of your garage.

Once you have replaced your garage door you will be surprised at how new and beautiful your home looks.
