5. Famagusta, Cyprus
This was once a bustling tourist town but it’s been abandoned ever since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. The Turkish took control of the town and have since not allowed anyone but Turkish Military and United Nations Personnel to enter. There are plenty of places where you can still see through the fence to the city. You can see how nature has reclaimed the area and there are eerie reminders of the 70s, such as billboards and rusting cars.
