An amusing mixture: this traditional cafe with original Jugendstil features was and is a beloved hangout of teens skipping school (see the billiards tables). Here they rub elbows with senior citizens, business people, a weary tourist here and a soft-drug dealer there.

Though just off the Kärntnerstrasse, it still retains that stuck-in-time quality, there is something endearing about these old cafes especially with the encroachment of the Coffeeshop Company next door and Starbucks around the corner. A sentiment shared, surely, by generations of truants.
