Since it opened in 1994, Spot has been hot. And not only among the expensively-suited business lunch crowd: at night, it fills to bursting with models, musicians, actors and the like—even the odd film star.
As befits a celebrity hangout, Spot’s walls are made of glass, offering diners a nice view of a lovely lit-up fountain and, of course, each other. On especially busy nights, this small square becomes a waiting area for the main event, with the cocktail-drinkers displayed to good advantage.
At Spot, the menu never changes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t delicious. Some of the highlights are the penne with melon and prosciutto; the grilled salmon; the tuna; and the gorgonzola, dried pear and nut salad. But the cocktails (some say Spot makes the best Martinis in town) are the real reason to stop by—well, that and the people-watching.
