The caveat of this accessories boutique in Marais is that when it’s gone, it’s gone. Shop owner Valery Duboucheron, a fashion consultant and stylist for several international fashion magazines, prudently combs through the masses to unearth magnificent one-size items, many of them only offered at Hoses: understated but glamorous pieces from Yves Saint Laurant, TP & CO, Rupert Sanderson, Avril Gau and Marc Jacobs.
It’s exclusive without being stuffy. There are also several handbags and a fistful of bold jewelry pieces from a crop of rising designers like Mawi, Louis Gos, Angès Bernet and Natalia Brilli. Equally straightforward, the muted interior consists of pale pink walls, a single cream Louis XVI couch, a modern lamp and one 18th-century Flemish portrait. Unlike other high society butterflies, we hardly think that Duboucheron counts Twiggy, her giant golden retriever, as a fashion accessory.
