Jardin du Palais Royal has been swept under a tide of contemporary cool. The latest to join Acne, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs is the fantastic accessories shop Corto Moltedo.
Needless to say, designer Garielecorto Moltedo does justice to his family’s legacy in lux leather goods (his parents owned Bottega Veneta pre-Gucci Group takeover). The brand consistently features an impressive range of shapes (hobo, miniadiére), skins (napa, eel) and unusual finishes. But the designer most notably redefines modern luxury when he throws in loud colors and metal hardware to create a signature style he calls “pop-lux chic.” An obsession with music, for instance, resurfaces in glossy laptop cases shaped as giant cassette tapes.
