No trip to Paris is complete without paying a visit to the peerless Ladurée. Aside from taking credit for providing Paris with their now-legendary macaroons and other sweet treats, Monsieur Ladurée was also first salon de thé proprietor in the city, circa 1862.
The company’s gilded flagship store on Champs-Elysees has become one of the most visited sites in Paris. Macaroons are the signature confections of the house and also a perfect little luxury at 1.40€ for each bite-sized morsel. While the wait can be excruciating—especially given the spread of delicacies in the windows—once you taste the classic treat, paired with expertly steeped tea at the in-house cafe, the hustle and bustle dissolves away into a sugary wonderland.
