Owned by boys about town André and Lionel, the dream team behind Le Baron and Hôtel Amour, La Fidélité is a hipster magnet restaurant and club combo in the up and coming 10th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from the gritty Gare de l’Est.
The bright green and pink neon sign in graffiti artist Andre’s signature typeface announces the colour from the get go—this is a place that likes to stand out. The grand restaurant, complete with moulded-ceilings, red leather banquettes and crisp white tablecloths, evokes a turn-of-the-century Paris brasserie air, and indeed that’s what it formerly was. Serving a modern take on traditional French fare, the unpretentious menu features simple but well executed dishes such as Entrecote steak with gratin dauphinois, or the calorific “Brioche Perdu”, their take on French toast, with salted caramel for dessert.
After eating, Paris’ beautiful people loiter at the bar or go on to cram into the semi-clandestine small club in the vaulted basement that is tastefully decorated with comfy leather sofas and Andre’s cheeky Mr A figure on the walls. There is also an apartment upstairs from the restaurant which is hired out to host some of the capital’s most exclusive parties.
