There’s a deeply-rooted tradition every summer at the narrow jardin Tino Rossi, a spit of greenery along the Seine in the 5th Arrondissement: after a saucisson and wine-filled picnic, the square becomes a stage for an open-air dance competition that runs through September.
Every night, entrenched couples perform a variety of Musette, folk, Tango, mazurkas and salsa in a small amphitheater on the quayside. The dance sessions usually begin at 7:30pm and stop at midnight after a last performance.
The square is not a model of its kind but just a suitable spot for impromptu rendezvous and lingering kisses on its tiny lawns facing the river. And if picnicking isn’t enough, the nearby restaurant Moissonnier (28, rue des Fosses Saint Bernard) serves delectable gourmet food from Lyon and its area.
