Commonly known as destinations for imbibing and casual snacking, cantinas are nothing fancy in Mexico. But over in Williamsburg, Cantina Royal is taking a new approach to Latin-style street food.
Owner, Felipe Mendez, flexes his culinary muscles on dishes like the flautaus stuffed with duck meat and the cappuccino potato soup, whilst his ceviche is exceptional and pairs particularly well with the tequila-centric drinks list. No trip here would be complete, however, without indulging in one of Mendez’s famous margarita or tequila-style martinis—both are fully capable of tempting you into venturing south of the border on a gustatory escapade of your own.
