A proper flea market, as opposed to the craft markets that seem to have taken over Cape Town, the Milnerton Market has been in operation for 15 years. Decidedly untouristy, the market is situated on the R27 in a dusty strip between the seaside railway line on one side and an industrial district on the other, and with a direct line on table Mountain, it doesn’t look like much but some incredible bargains can be found lurking amongst the dust.
A bit of diligent searching and you’re bound to find something worth taking home from the stacks of ancient cutlery, crockery, tools, antiques, books, magazines, and some choice items of furniture.
