Vinyl digger's secrets
Marc Hype on the record hunt

Marc Hype has been deeply involved with Hip-Hop culture since 1988 and has never hesitated to look beyond the turntable platters for inspiration. He combines his proven skills on the decks with a natural ability to pick the right tune at the right time. This also means spending hours in hidden vinyl vaults.

No matter if garage-style backyard warehouses or temporary flea market research, if you are a dedicated record hunter, you need nerves of steel, lots of time and ideally a private driver. Marc Hype is part of legendary Funkvergnuegen, the German rare-groove DJ Squad in reference to Volkswagen’s timeless “Fahrvergnuegen” claim; here, he guides us to the best places in town to hunt records.
