Barely visible except for its modest green neon sign, this Schönberg haunt requires patrons to ring the doorbell. Once inside, get cozy at the winding retro-chic bar and take your reading glasses out for a perusal of their tome-like cocktail menu.

It’s best to visit during happy hour—between 18:00 and 21:00—when all drinks are nearly half off at €6.50 a sip. Cabin-kitsch design elements like hand painted wood-grain walls, a small library, plaid wallpaper and a glowing puppy lamp, invite drinkers to stay for another round.

With strong drinks and no bar snacks—save for the peanuts upon request—be warned: the Green Door has a reputation for leaving visitors a bit sloshed.
