Amsterdam is synonymous with Anne Frank. And a visit to her house will no doubt be on your itinerary if it’s your first visit. What we would like to add is that after your tour you then pop round the corner to the Pianola Museum.
This is a museum that does what is says on the tin. Or rather the building. Which has a wonderfully austere sign above its door in black and white. The size of the building does not, however, represent the size of the collection—which houses over 25,000 music rolls in the museum archive.
And instead of just observing the rolls in their inanimate state, the museum puts on many concerts for you to witness these self-playing pianos come to life. Compositions that ten fingers just could never possibly muster.
