2. Venice and its Lagoon


Venice is known all over the world for its artistic achievements. The lagoon of Venice, situated in the Mediterranean region, is a perfect exemplar of semi-lake settlements. The lagoon is especially famous for the plethora of masterpieces that it hoards right from the exceptional St. Mary of Salvation to the impeccable Torcello Cathedral.

1. Piazza del Duomo, Pisa


Located in the centre of Pisa, the Piazza del Duomo boasts of marble monuments from medieval period. In 15th century, Pisa saw its decline both politically and economically and was ruled by Florence but no damage was done to its monuments and they were well maintained. At present, the maintenance is being taken care by the Opera Primaziale Pisana.
