34. Historic Centre of Urbino


The Historic Center of Urbino has been fundamental in attracting scholars and artists from all over the world. The art and architecture of the Renaissance period is well-preserved in the small hill town of Urbino. It holds significance due to the influence that it had by the coming of learned scholars and artists who spread the Renaissance culture throughout Europe.

33. City of Pienza

Pienza is known for its historic value and is considered as an ideal town of Renaissance period. It was Pope Pius idea and was built under the guidance of architect Bernardo Rossellino. The Gothic style structure of Pienza shows some signs of German architecture as well. The Cathedral built in 1462 by Rossellino shows his mastery in the field.
