22. Mantua and Sabbioneta
Under the aegis of the Gonzaga family, the twin towns of Mantua and Sabbioneta display the architectural, urban and artistic side of the Renaissance. While Mantua shows how an existing city is renewed and extended, Sabbinoeta shows the way an ideal should be planned. The towns have significance for their role in spreading awareness of the Renaissance culture.

Showing impressive growth over a period of two thousand years, the City of Verona is significant for its preservation of various monuments from different eras namely the antiquity, medieval and the Renaissance. The Scaliger family is mainly responsible for its impressive development. The town is also a fine example of strong military establishment with fortified establishments.
