7. James Earl Ray
James Earl Ray is widely known as the murderer of the 1964 Peace Nobel winner, Rev. Martin Luther King. Born into a white family from the southern state of Tennessee, Ray grew up into a segregationist and militant. He was arrested two months after the incident at the Heathrow Airport, while attempting to leave the UK using a fake Canadian passport as Ramon George Sneyd. Ray chose to plea for guilty to avoid the death penalty and receive life imprisonment sentence. Ray contracted hepatitis C from a blood transfusion after being stabbed in the prison and he died from complication of the disease in 1998.
