7. General Slocum
Because of negligence in the safety department of General Slocum, there were 1,021 people killed in the aftermath of the accident. Fire broke out as soon as the ship left the pier. The passengers were helpless as they tried to get in the lifeboats that were never replaced for thirteen years.
