6. Atomic Bomb
This might not be something that has changed our lives for the better but nuclear weapons are now a part of many major countries. They act as deterrents, mainly, but they have been used to cause huge amount of destruction. Hiroshima was the first place to have an atomic bomb dropped on it. This was during the Second World War and it was one of the reasons the war ended.
