Top 10 Shakespeare Movie Adaptations

1. Chimes at Midnight (1965)

This 1965 film was directed by Orson Welles, who also starred as Sir John Falstaff — one of Shakespeare’s recurring characters. It explores his relationship with Prince Hal and is based on a number of Shakespeare’s historicals. It also includes dialogue from The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Honourable mentions go to Bend it Like Beckham, Othello, She’s the Man and Were the World Mine. Perhaps not all movies that stick closely to their source material but they are entertaining nonetheless.
