5. Cthulhu
Although this creature does not come from myth, it’s on this list because of how uneasy it can make you feel. It’s the creation of writer H.P. Lovecraft and in the book The Call of Cthulhu, the terrible image of this creature is conjured up. Cthulhu is described as: “an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.” With a “pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings.”
It is one of the old ones. A race of god-like creatures from space that have since fallen into a death-like sleep. However, they are still worshipped by a few small cults who practice human sacrifice.
