8. Robert Pershing Wadlow
Robert Pershing Wadlow was one of the tallest men in modern history and his physical size was scientifically proven. He was sometimes called the “Alton Giant”, because he was born and grew up in Alton, Illinois. His exceptional physical size during early adulthood was caused by abnormal pituitary gland, which resulted in excessive growth hormones production. Months before his death, he started to use leg braces to walk and many simple activities caused him immense discomfort. On 1940, he suffered blister after a small accident, which caused severe infection. His condition continued to worsen, despite a series of surgeries and blood transfusions. Wadlow died at the age 22, at 2,72m of height and 199kg of weight.
