3. Fountain
Fountain was essentially a porcelain urinal and attributed to Marcel Duchamp. He submitted it to the Society of Independent Artist for an exhibition in 1917, but rejected by the committee and the original had been lost. Art theorist and historians consider it an avant-garde form of art for early 20th century era. Duchamp commissioned a number of replicas in the 1960’s and they are currently displayed in numerous art museums.
