9. Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese is a film director from Flushin, New York and grew up in Little Italy. He was nominated five times for the Oscar before winning one for Best Director in the The Departed. He is the president of Film Foundation, a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award and a founder of the World Cinema Foundation. Catholicism, violence, machismo and Scorsese’s Italian-American heritage heavily influenced his movies. He is considered as one of the most influential film director with classics such as Goodfellas, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver, all with the famous actor, Robert De Niro.
