10. David Lynch
David Lynch is a painter, musician, photographer and film director from Missoula, Montana. He received three Academy Awards nominations for the Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man. He also received the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival and awards from the Cannes Film Festival.
His surreal and unique style is widely known as “Lynchian”, which is easily recognizable by critics and avid film fans. This style is characterized by meticulous sound design and innovative dream imagery. Lynch also often portrays a hallucinated and darker version of human reality.
