10. Flannery O’Connor
Follower of the Roman Catholic faith, Mary Flannery O’Connor was a writer and essayist who mostly wrote in the Southern Gothic style drawing inspiration from the regional settings. Her works reflect her faith and her take on ethics and morality. She has to her credit the National Book Award for Fiction for the year 1972 for her work “Complete Stories”.
