4. Mount Nyiragongo – DR Congo
One of the active volcanoes in Africa, the Nyiragongo is noted for the lava lakes that are visible on the summit crater. The volcano has erupted more than 34 times since 1882, the activity of eruption lasting for years at some occasions. The last eruption seen in the mountain was in 2002 when the lava that flowed from the volcano rendered more than 120,000 people homeless. Activities continue at the mountain, alerting of an eruption in the near future.
