1. Berlin
Berlin is one of the most vibrant cities in Europe. Modern architecture sits side by side with Baroque palaces. From the Holocaust Memorial to the Topography of Terror exhibit, Berlin has numerous World War II-related sights. The Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie are must-see attractions as well. However, don’t get completely bogged down in Berlin’s past. Since the Cold War ended, the city has become a hub for artists, and Berlin’s creative energy has been compared to New York and London in the 1970s. Check out the city’s graffiti scene and visit the Kunste-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art.
2. Munich
Visiting Munich for Oktoberfest is a beer lover’s dream, but it’s crowded and overpriced. Besides, in this Bavarian city, you can get a pilsner and sausage anytime at one of the city’s beer gardens. Other famous attractions include Marienplatz, the Asam Church and the Old Pinakothek. Olympiapark, which was the site of the 1972 Summer Olympics, is also worth a visit.
