Chemically, bitter melon contains compounds that can work like insulin and one of them is actually called p-insulin. If p-insulin is given subcutaneously to patients, it could actually substitute insulin from our body. The fruit can stimulate the production of insulin in pancreas. Bitter melon could also treat indigestion and it can help stimulating the production of gastric juices. Liver could also be stimulated to secrete bile juices, which are needed for the metabolism of fats.

Dyspepsia could also be treated with bitter melon, because the normal condition of our digestion system can be maintained. Constipation is a condition that affects many million people around the world and it could be caused by unhealthy dietary practices and faulty eating habits. This problem can be handled by consuming some amount of bitter melon juices regularly. Peristaltic movements can be improved, due to regular consumption of bitter melon juice. Heart burn is also a common digestion problem among many people and it could cause burning sensations in our chest region. This is caused by indigestion that causes the excess production of hydrochloric acid or HCl.

Bitter melon is also known for its anti-inflammatory benefit and it could reduce any kind of edema-like condition in our body. The juice when consumed regularly can improve the circulatory system and normalize the blood flow. This will help to reduce any kind of inflammation in our body. Bitter melon should also be effective to treat livers, by treating duodenal ulcers and gastric walls. The juice can maintain steady production of gastric acids and juices, by protecting the mucus membrane. Harsh conditions could disturb mucus membrane and regular consumption of bitter melon should help to improve our condition.

One very common concern with bitter melon consumption is its taste. The bitter taste can linger on our tongue and can be rather pleasant. Unfortunately, there’s no effective way to neutralize the taste, but we could sip some honey and coat our tongue with it, just before we drink bitter melon quickly.
