What Are Warts?

‘Verruca Vulgaris’, the medical name for the warts that betrays the general attitude toward them. Yes, its the latin and it translates as vulgar wart. Warts are just the benign growths and the bumps of dead skin tissue covering a center which is infected by a virus. Healthwise, neither they are painful nor painful, but often, people want to get rid of them probably, because of their vulgar plague.

What Causes Warts?

Most of the warts are developed by the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), and that is highly contagious and can be transmitted through direct contacts with other people having warts. You may also get trapped in by using the things those warty folks have used or touched. Furthermore, virus like HPV are divided up into small genetic variants called stains of the same virus. There are various wart removal services available and there are some home remedies too to get your warts removed.

Where Can You Get Warts?

Warts are most commonly found in children and young adults. They may occur anywhere on the body but the most common places are hands, feet, knees and elbows. The warts grown on the bottom of the foot are known as plantar warts. Generally, they’re not harmful but people with diabetes should be careful with their feet. The reason these warts seem like a problem is that you have to walk on them and that hurts. Moreover, people with weaker immune systems have more chances to get warts.

How Can You Get Rid Of The Warts?

Majority of the warts disappear on their own without any treatment but still there are many people who wish to get them treated. There are a number of wart treatment services with varying degrees of success. Let’s discuss some of the common ones:

  • Freezing: Warts can be treated by freezing them using liquid nitrogen. This causes local frostbite in the wart area causing direct destruction to the wart. This also alerts the immune system to the presence of HPV in the skin. However, this may take several rounds of freezing to fully eradicate the wart.
  • Immune Therapy: Immune therapy can be done at a skin clinic by injecting a small amount of an immune-reaction that causes the substance underneath the wart and the common substance used is an extract from candida which is yeast found on the skin. This also brings the HPV attention to the immune system and it is very effective treatment.
  • Salicylic Acid: This is a liquid preparation, you can easily get them in the stores and this treatment works the same way as freezing, causing chemical destruction and recruiting the immune system to get rid of the virus. The method: First, pare off the dead skin on the top of the wart to expose the raw skin underneath by a filer, emery board or a pumice stone after soaking the wart and cleaning it properly which will help to soften up the skin.
  • Duct Tape To Get Rid Of Warts – The most popular option: This is the most common wart removal treatment and according to a paper published in 2002, using duct tape to remove warts is significantly more effective than the freezing option. This treatment is very simple to follow. Just cover the wart with the duct tape and leave for around 6 days. Then, remove the tape on the 7th day, soak the wart in warm water and remove the dead skin with a pumice stone or an emery board. Reapply the process for another 6 days and repeat this cycle until the wart has gone. It is a cheap and easy method worth trying.

There are many home remedies to get rid of the warts, flushed on the Internet. But, if it is a stubborn one; on the visible area, you should always consult a dermatologist about your condition. Stay Healthy!
