What Kind Of Tires Will You Need For What Situation?

2 Mins read

If you’re uncertain of which tires to buy, consider the many types of roads and weather conditions there are. These two factors determine the types of tires that you need for your driving needs. Before you buy tires quickly, spend a few extra minutes to research and know which tires to choose for your driving situation.

What Kind Of Tires Will You Need For What Situation?

Winter

Wintertime driving is easier to do when you equip your vehicle with snow tires. The tread is deep to accommodate piles of snow. The rubber material is softer and more pliable for increased traction. This is effective at gripping a road that is covered in ice and snow.

Off Road

Off-road tires, also known as all terrain, contain a deeper, more rugged tread to grip layers of dirt and mud. The tires are thick to handle every rugged road material, such as mud, sand, and gravel. There is reduced slippage when driving off road and a high level of stability on normal roads. Tire dealers also sell mud terrain tires that are made with deeper tread patterns with enhanced features for the most aggressive style of driving.

Summer

Summer tires are made for driving in wet, dry and hot weather conditions that include humidity, heavy rainfall and extreme heat. The tires are hard, soft and flexible to adapt to dry or wet roads. The tread patterns are designed to reduce aquaplaning and rolling resistance.

All Season

All-season tires are made with even, symmetrical tread patterns for optimal traction. The design is suitable for wet, hot and cold conditions. Drivers can use them on icy and snowy roads during the harshest winters; however, skidding may still occur.

Sports

Sports tires are designed for the fastest and most aggressive driving performances on the road. The tires are made for heavy, long-term contact with the road. Common users are drivers who enter racing competitions. They need enhanced tires that grip the road while you turn sharp corners, brake suddenly to a stop and perform other unpredictable driving tasks. Some dealers advertise their high-performance sports tires as summer tires.

Not every tire looks the same and is designed for the same function. Tires are adapted to accommodate different types of roads that may be wet, dry, cold or warm. All-season tires are made with perfection in mind but have limitations. Winter tires can be used everywhere but are not recommended during the summer. Overall, select tires that are specially designed for the right location and driving needs.
