5. Anne Bronte

Anne Bronte was a British poet and novelist. Anne’s works was considered daring during her era with vivid description of physical and mental cruelty, as well as unique approach to divorce. In Christmas 1849, Anne caught influenza and by January the next year, her symptoms intensified. Her father asked the help of a Leeds physician who then intimated that the progression of her consumption was quite serious, leaving very little hope for a complete recovery. Anne accepted the news well with her characteristic self-control and determination. On 27 May the same year, she felt that her death was already near and expressed her love to her friends and families. Calm and conscious, she died the next afternoon. Anne was 29.
