Battle of Pelusium (Loss ratio 1:7); according Ctesias Cambyses II was a king of the Achaemenid Empire further expanded his father’s gain, Cambyses I, into Egypt. In the Battle of Pelusium, the Egyptian forces were led by a young inexperienced prince and they were no match for the Persians. After a brief action, the Egyptian forces’ retreat soon became a complete rout. The Egyptians fled the battle and took shelter in Memphis. After a prolonged siege, Pharaoh Psamatik III, surrendered himself and his throne was transferred to Cambyses II.
