8. Rashomon – Japan (1950)
A great example of the ‘unrealiable narrator’ concept, this Japanese classic depicts the same story told from several viewpoints. Each slightly different so you don’t know which is true or false. A minimal use of sets and an interesting use of lighting give this film a timeless quality.
