Historic Centre of Salvador de Bahia

Way back in the past, almost for 214 years (1549-1763) Salvador de Bahia remained the first capital of Brazil. First European and then African and then followed by Amerindian, Salvador de Bahia has seen various cultures. Slaves from all over the world were brought here for sugar plantations. Perhaps this is the main reason that this city became the biggest slave market in the world. Designed with stucco-work, the colored houses are the main attraction of the old city.
