15. Monticello and the University of Virginia
Designed by Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the U.S., the Monticello is known for its architectural beauty. The Monticello is his plantation home whereas the ‘academical village’ is the heart of the University of Virginia. The building is an example of the culmination of European tradition, nature and architecture.
